UNICEF was the first international organisation in Croatia. The Office for Crisis Situations opened even before the official recognition of the country. There was no time to lose. Children needed our help and support. When the war ended, we shifted our focus to other areas: teaching children about the dangers of mines, baby-friendly maternity hospitals, education about the rights of the child, support for foster parents and parents of the youngest children, and many others.
Our most well-known campaigns are “Stop Violence Amongst Children”, “Every Child Needs a Family” and “The First Three Are the Most Important”, as well as help for children in crisis situations. Today, UNICEF is active in 192 countries and, thanks to our donors from all over the world, we can provide help in any location within 24 hours.
If we work together to create a world in which every child is guaranteed education, health care and protection, we can create a world that is worthy of the child.
It is the task of UNICEF in Croatia to ensure that children receive the support they need to reach their full potential. These are our priorities for children.
