ZAGREB, March 16, 2021 - German actor Lenn Kudrjawizki and UNICEF representatives from Croatia visited the Association of Persons with Disabilities of Sisak-Moslavina County to provide support to children with disabilities in the earthquake-affected areas. In cooperation with the UNICEF Office for Croatia and UNICEF from Germany, Lenn will help raise funds for the continuation of the work of this association and through his social networks he will further sensitize his audience to the difficulties that children with disabilities and their families in this county are faced with.

For the sixth year in a row, Lenn Kudrjawizki is shooting new sequels of the popular television series "Kroatien Krimi" for the German television ARD in Croatia. Last year, he reached out to UNICEF in Croatia and launched a fundraising campaign to support Croatian foster families. As this year's devastating earthquakes threatened many families of children with disabilities in Sisak-Moslavina County, the German actor decided to now focus his engagement on their needs.

The Association of Persons with Disabilities of Sisak-Moslavina County provides support to children with disabilities and their families in Sisak-Moslavina County, but the earthquakes significantly endangered their work and permanently damaged the premises for providing therapies in Sisak. UNICEF has so far invested HRK 368.000 to support the retention of jobs of the professional team employed in the association until February 2022, maintenance of occupational therapy and sensory integration therapy, as well as the establishment of physiotherapy - a new therapeutic service as part of early intervention for children under eight.

During his visit to the Association of Persons with Disabilities of Sisak-Moslavina County, the German actor stated: “Croatia is in a way my second home because I have been working here for six years now. But the moment you look behind the scenes, behind the camera, you get the idea of the real life here. By getting in touch with UNICEF, I gained more insight into life beyond the glamor of celebrities. I am very impressed with people who give their energy, their strength to save children and I am very impressed, especially in times when bad things happen, by people staying together and helping each other. I am honored to have the opportunity to contribute and help in this difficult situation."

The devastating earthquakes left long-lasting consequences on children and families in Sisak-Moslavina County. UNICEF responded quickly and delivered critical supplies to the affected areas, but children and their families need long-term support to be able to rebuild their lives after the disaster.
