Luisa Brumana is the new UNICEF Representative in Croatia

ZAGREB, July 4 2024 – Ms. Luisa Brumana is the newly appointed UNICEF Representative in Croatia as of June 16th, 2024. Under Ms. Brumana’s leadership, UNICEF Croatia will continue working in partnership with the Croatian Government, civil society, the private sector and other stakeholders to bring positive changes in the lives of children in Croatia and contribute to the fulfillment of children’s rights around the world.

Ms. Brumana emphasized her eagerness to continue collaborating closely with the Government of Croatia, partners, and the wider community to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive. "Croatia is a country with a strong orientation towards children's rights, and I am confident that we can continue to expand our partnerships and build on the successes achieved thus far, to create a future of opportunities for every child”, she added.
Prior to this assignment, Ms. Brumana has been serving as UNICEF Representative in Argentina since 2018. Ms. Brumana has also served as Regional Health Adviser for the UNICEF Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, where she oversaw health, nutrition, WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) and HIV programs in the region.
Ms. Brumana graduated in Medicine and obtained a master’s degree in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (United Kingdom). In 1998, she joined UNICEF in Angola and worked briefly for various humanitarian and development institutions in Eritrea and Sri Lanka. She continued working at UNICEF in 2004 as a Maternal and Child Health Officer and HIV/AIDS Specialist at UNICEF Vietnam and then in UNICEF Mozambique.
Ms. Brumana is of Italian nationality, married and has three children. In addition to Italian, she speaks English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
