Highlights
In 2019, UNICEF partnered with Banco de Fomento Angola (BFA) to provide
sustained humanitarian support to mitigate the negative impact and
consequences of the drought emergency in Angola, with a particular focus on
Ombadja Municipality in Cunene province, as mutually agreed by the provincial
government, UNICEF and BFA. Considering the impact of severe drought on
equal access to education, health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene
(WASH) and child protection (CP) services, the ‘Portos Seguros’ (Safe Havens)
project was developed to increase the resilience of the drought-affected
communities.
