Through the Ishonch-2030 project, UNICEF and its partners continue supporting the digital transformation of education in Uzbekistan by empowering educators with the skills and tools needed for modern, inclusive, and innovative learning environments.

So far, 264 participants, including school principals, deputy principals, regional methodologists, STEM teachers and foreign language teachers have participated in the workshops in Tashkent, Samarkand, Fergana, Termez, and Khiva.

The training programme aimed to strengthen educators’ competencies in integrating information and communication technologies (ICT) and artificial intelligence (AI) into school leadership, teaching, and learning processes. Participants also developed practical skills in using digital tools and modern technologies to improve educational quality and student engagement.

“Nowadays, changes in the IT sector are developing very rapidly, so we need to improve our digital skills every day in line with these changes. During the workshop we practically learned how to use various digital and AI tools including classroom management tools. I am happy to integrate them into the teaching process and share my training experience with other colleagues”, says Ms. Feruza Rozimuradova, English language teacher from the Samarkand Region.

The workshops combined essential theoretical knowledge with highly practical and hands-on activities focused on real classroom and school management applications. Participants engaged in practical exercises, collaborative lesson planning, peer-review activities, digital content creation, and live demonstrations of classroom technologies.

As a result of the workshops, participants strengthened their knowledge and skills in digital transformation and digital pedagogy, explored new approaches to communication and content creation using AI tools and digital platforms, and enhanced collaboration and experience-sharing among educators.

“The key to reforms in the education system is teachers. When teachers develop their personal and professional skills, they can help others develop as well, especially their students. In this regard, the two-day training was very valuable for improving my personal and professional digital pedagogy skills, and I believe it was the same for other teachers”, says Ms. Mukhabbat Djuraeva, a STEM methodologist from the Bukhara region.

Partnership of UNICEF, Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the National Institute of Pedagogical Excellence named after Abdulla Avloni and Regional Pedagogical Excellence Centers also supports schools in upgrading ICT integration plans and developing schedules to ensure teachers’ effective use of mobile computer technologies and digital resources in classrooms.
