Vaccine Industry Consultation (VIC) 2024

17–19 September in Copenhagen

Across more than 190 countries and territories, UNICEF does whatever it takes to help children survive, thrive, and fulfil their potential. UNICEF operates on five continents, supporting governments to reduce and ultimately eliminate mortality and morbidity associated with vaccine-preventable diseases, and give children a fair chance to reach their full potential.

To maximize results for children, UNICEF partners with or acts as procurement agency for several initiatives, including Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Measles and Rubella Initiative, and the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.

UNICEF has a key role in the procurement of vaccines and immunization supplies on behalf of around 100 countries, supplying over 2 billion doses of vaccines annually and reaching close to half the world’s children in support of routine immunization programmes, preventive campaigns, and outbreak and emergency response activities.

The 2024 Vaccine Industry Consultation (VIC) took place on 17–19 September 2024 in Copenhagen, covering key vaccine markets including penta- and hexavalent, pneumococcal, rotavirus, human papillomavirus (HPV), measles-containing, yellow fever, meningococcal, polio, and new and emerging vaccines.

The sessions included information on the immunization landscape in 2024 and key updates from the WHO prequalification team. Topics such as vaccine procurement for middle-income countries, sustainability, innovation and localization were also explored.
