Supply Annual Report 2000

The report provides detailed statistics on UNICEF's local and international procurement and other key results.

Highlights

Since UNICEF was founded in 1946, supplies have been integral to its mission of promoting children's rights to health, nutrition, clean water, sanitation, education and protection, especially during emergencies. Indeed, the most enduring images of UNICEF at work are those of a child being immunized against killer diseases, or sitting in a makeshift classroom, using a "school in a box" to continue her education in the aftermath of an earthquake or other disaster. As UNICEF refines its priorities in the lead-up to the General Assembly's Special Session on Children in September 2001, such strategic supplies continue to be essential to the core areas of girls' education, early childhood development, immunization, HIV/AIDS prevention among children and protection of children from violence, explotation and abuse.
