Diarrhoeal diseases are both preventable and treatable. Yet more than 215,000 children under-five die annually from rotavirus infections, and WHO’s estimated global immunization coverage rate for rotavirus vaccines only reaches 47 per cent.

Even though overall rotavirus vaccine supply from three manufacturers through UNICEF is sufficient to meet all confirmed country requirements, UNICEF seeks to accelerate the availability of vaccine presentations suitable to cover all country immunization programmes.
