The Zwakala campaign is represented by young champions across South Africa. From Liaan Ali in East London who teaches young people to surf to Mpumi Mtintso, the owner of bookibhoni, a bicycle tour company that doubles as a book drive for young people in Soweto; and Sizwe Nzima, founder of Health Iyeza, that delivers much needed medication to the elderly of Khayelitsha to Onke Dubase, a rugby player who volunteers as a coach to teach young people the game he loves.
All of the Zwakala Champions share a love for their community and express this in their own ways through their work, initiatives and volunteering. It is this same love that brings the Zwakala champs together in their desire to see their communities leave COVID-19 behind.
Zwakala champs are advocates for taking your shot and getting vaccinated to save lives while continuing to practice non-pharmaceutical interventions to limit the spread of COVID-19.

To support vaccine uptake in South Africa, teams of trained Zwakala community mobilisers are going door-to-door to bring vaccines to where people are, making it easy to get vaccinated while mobilisers are on site to share the facts about vaccination, respond to myths and assist young people to make informed decisions about their health and the health of those around them.
