Highlights

This budget brief analyses Rwanda's 2026/27 national budget and what it means for children. While the national budget rises 12.1 per cent to Frw 7,796.3 billion, allocations to education, health, social protection and water, sanitation and hygiene grew by only 4.2 per cent to Frw 1,711.3 billion – below inflation. The share of the budget for these sectors has fallen from 26.8 to 22.0 per cent in five years. The brief reviews trends in each sector, financing and donor dependence, climate-related spending, and results for children, and sets out priorities to protect and strengthen investment in Rwanda's future.
