The world's largest lesson, organized by UNICEF on the occasion of World Children's Day – November 20

Bucharest, November 17, 2025. UNICEF invites teachers and students from across the country to participate, between November 17 and 25, 2025, in a new edition of the World's Largest Lesson, which is organized in the context of World Children's Day, celebrated annually on November 20.

World Children's Day marks the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989, the most ratified human rights treaty in history. It is a day dedicated to all children around the world, an opportunity to celebrate their rights and reaffirm our shared commitment to respect and protect them.

This year's edition is held under the motto "My Day. My Rights," a call to action that encourages every child to know, defend, and exercise their rights.

The World Largest Lesson initiative promotes children's rights and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations, helping to engage students in active learning and the development of civic and social skills.

This year, the lesson plan is built around the theme "How to make every day World Children's Day," giving students aged 6 to 18 the opportunity to understand the link between the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and global goals such as quality education, gender equality, reducing inequalities, and peace and justice.

During the activity, students are invited to explore concepts such as rights, needs, and wants, reflect on the situation of children around the world, and propose concrete solutions to promote the rights of all children.

Teachers can download the lesson plan and educational materials available on the qie.ro platform, accessing https://www.qie.ro/wll2025/, carry out the activity in class between November 17 and 25, and then upload the materials and photos taken during the activities to the qie.ro platform. After validation, each participant will receive an electronic certificate of participation, during 1-31 December 2025.

Through this initiative, UNICEF encourages the active involvement of children, teachers, and school communities in celebrating World Children's Day, reaffirming the principle that every child has rights, wherever they are and whatever their circumstances.
