UNICEF Philippines Health and Nutrition Results 2025
In 2025, UNICEF Philippines helped protect 802,053 children through immunization, supported nutrition services for 704,284 young children and 36,879 pregnant women, reached more than 500,000 people with health information, helped strengthen services in 275 municipalities, and supported the development of DigiVacc, a digital platform that helps identify and reach zero-dose children.

How UNICEF Philippines contributed
- Supported capacity strengthening and social and behaviour change initiatives across 58 provinces and 396 local government units
- Worked with UNFPA and WHO Philippines to support adolescent health outreach activities in underserved and hard-to-reach communities
- Provided technical and strategic support under the Philippine Multisectoral Nutrition Project, including training 20,615 frontline nutrition workers and helping 706 local government staff develop and implement social and behaviour change plans in 275 municipalities
Strengthening health systems and financing for sustainable impact
What UNICEF Philippines helped achieve
- The Department of Health adopted the National Immunization Strategy (2026–2030), providing a costed roadmap to strengthen routine immunization services nationwide
- The DigiVacc digital immunization application was launched to improve vaccination tracking, identify zero-dose children, and strengthen follow-up services
- 100 primary health care facilities were accredited to provide treatment for severe acute malnutrition through the PhilHealth Severe Acute Malnutrition Outpatient Therapeutic Care Benefit Package, expanding access to life-saving services for vulnerable children.
How UNICEF Philippines contributed
- Provided technical assistance for the development of health policies, strategies, and digital systems
- Strengthened the capacity of health workers and local health officers in newly accredited facilities delivering severe acute malnutrition treatment services
In focus
The challenge: Many health facilities in the Philippines continue to rely on paper-based systems, including handwritten logbooks, printed vaccination cards, and manually prepared reports. These processes can make it difficult to track children’s vaccination status, identify missed doses, and generate timely information for decision-making.
UNICEF’s contribution and impact: The DigiVacc Immunization Suite is a set of digital applications designed to strengthen immunization services and increase the number of fully immunized children in the Philippines.
Developed in support of the Department of Health’s goals for Universal Health Care and digital transformation, DigiVacc enables health workers to digitally record, store, access, and manage children’s immunization records.
By providing near real-time access to vaccination data, DigiVacc helps health workers and decision-makers:
- Identify and reach zero-dose and under-immunized children more quickly
- Monitor immunization coverage more accurately
- Detect service delivery bottlenecks
- Improve planning, resource allocation, and follow-up
- Strengthen evidence-based decision-making at national and local levels
As the system expands, DigiVacc has the potential to improve the efficiency, quality and equity of immunization services across the Philippines, helping ensure that more children are protected from vaccine-preventable diseases.
