UNICEF Philippines Emergency Response Results 2025
In 2025, UNICEF Philippines supported government-led emergency responses by providing cash assistance, nutrition, water, sanitation, education and psychosocial support to children and families affected by typhoons, earthquakes and other crises. UNICEF helped 7,873 households access cash assistance, reached more than 24,534 children with nutrition services, provided safe water to over 89,000 people, and supported learning continuity for more than 16,000 children.

What UNICEF Philippines helped achieve
- 7,873 households affected by super typhoons in Catanduanes and Cagayan received UNICEF-supported cash assistance through government systems, helping families meet their children’s most urgent needs
- 24,534 children and 3,538 pregnant women received nutrition services and supplies, while health facilities continued operating despite emergencies and power disruptions
- More than 89,000 people gained access safe water and more than 9,700 people gained access to safe and appropriate sanitation facilities following typhoons and other emergencies, while over 46,800 people received hygiene and water kits
- 1,983 children received psychosocial support services through UNICEF-trained government social workers
- 16,349 children continued learning during disasters, through access to UNICEF-supported learning and teaching resources

The challenge: Disasters can quickly disrupt livelihoods, damage homes and limit access to essential goods and services, placing children and families at greater risk of poverty, ill health, interrupted learning and protection concerns.
UNICEF's contribution and impact: In 2025, UNICEF Philippines continued to use a cash-first approach in emergencies, providing unrestricted cash assistance through government systems so that families could meet their most urgent needs.
Cash assistance gives families the flexibility to decide how best to support their children, whether by purchasing food, medicine, clothing, transportation or other essential items.
Beyond addressing immediate needs, cash transfers help families recover with dignity, strengthen their ability to cope with future shocks and reduce the risk that emergencies will have long-term impacts on children's health, education, protection and well-being.
By supporting government-led social protection systems, UNICEF Philippines helps ensure that emergency assistance reaches vulnerable families efficiently and at scale.
