Carabayllo is located in northern Metropolitan Lima. The district has a population of 333,039, of which 31 per cent (103,509) are children and adolescents. Children aged 0 to 5 years make up 9.9 per cent (33,239) of the total population, children aged 6 to 11 years 10.9 per cent (36,432) and adolescents aged 12 to 17 years represent 10.1 per cent (33,848).
Carabayllo has a high monetary poverty rate, which affects 23.1 per cent of the population. Currently, northern Lima has become one of the main destinations for Venezuelan migrants.
