In the digital age, where the internet has become a part of life, protecting children and young people online has become a pressing priority. Nepal, like many other countries, is witnessing a rapid increase in internet usage among its youth. While it brings opportunities, it also exposes children to heightened risks, including online abuse, exploitation and harmful content.
This situation paper is a collaborative effort of UNICEF Nepal and ChildSafeNet, to provide a clear understanding of the online risks and challenges faced by children and young people in Nepal. With a thorough examination of over 160 research reports and documents, insights from 20 experts and stakeholders in child online protection, the paper highlights the critical findings that emphasizes the urgent need for action.
