Myanmar Landmine and Explosive Ordnance Incidents Information

Highlights

According to monitoring of landmine and other Explosive Ordnance (EO) incidents during the first six months of 2026, a total of 327 incidents were recorded nationwide, resulting in 487 civilian casualties. This highlights the persistent risk posed by EO contamination in conflict-affected areas.

Shan State recorded the highest number of incidents and casualties, accounting for 74 incidents (22.63%) and 109 casualties (22.38%) of the national total. This was followed by Magway Region, which reported 50 incidents (15.29%) and 80 casualties (16.43%). Mandalay Region ranked third, with 47 incidents (14.37%) and 68 casualties (13.96%). The remaining States and Regions collectively accounted for 156 incidents (47.71%) and 230 casualties (47.23%) nationwide.

A total of 113 child casualties were reported during the first six months of 2026, representing 23.20% of all casualties across the country. All figures represent civilian casualties only, based on information available from humanitarian and monitoring partners.
