The Ministry of Education and UNICEF Mongolia's joint “One bagh, One school” initiative continues to expand successfully. A new bagh school for 75 children has been established in Tsogt-Undur bag, Batsumber soum of Tuv Province, with financial support from Nomin Holding LLC, and was officially inaugurated today.
In Mongolia, more than 36,000 children are required to live away from their families for up to nine months each year in order to attend school, staying in dormitories or with relatives. Such conditions place young children at increased risk of emotional distress, loneliness, and separation from family care. In some cases, families are even forced to live apart so their children can access education. To address these challenges, the Ministry of Education and UNICEF Mongolia jointly launched the One Bagh, One School initiative.
The inauguration ceremony of the Tsogt-Undur Bagh Primary School was attended by the Minister of Education, Mr. P. Naranbayar; UN Resident Coordinator in Mongolia, Mr. Jaap van Hierden; UNICEF Mongolia Representative, Mr. Evariste Kouassi-Komlan; the Founder of Nomin Holding LLC, Mr. A. Shagdarsuren; the CEO Mr. Ya. Navaan; the Governor of Tuv Province, Mr. L. Tumurchudur; and representatives from the education sector.
“Our primary goal is to ensure that children can access quality education close to their homes and families. Through One bagh, One school initiative, Mongolia is steadily moving closer to achieving this objective,” emphasized Minister of Education P. Naranbayar during the opening ceremony.
“The active engagement and support of the private sector have been critical in turning this initiative into reality. This Bagh School is a strong example of an effective partnership between the government, the private sector, and development organizations. Nationwide, there is a need for such schools in more than 60 baghs. We are confident that, together with local governments and private sector partners, we will establish more schools in 2026,” said UNICEF Representative Evariste Kouassi-Komlan.
“After learning that children had to walk 8–9 kilometers to attend school, Nomin Holding decided to support this initiative. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all organizations and companies that contributed to completing this primary school within such a short period of time,” stated Mr. A. Shagdarsuren, Founder of Nomin Holding LLC.
The newly constructed school incorporates infrastructure solutions designed to withstand Mongolia’s harsh climate. The school–kindergarten complex is equipped with modern ventilation, heating and insulation systems, renewable energy sources, and improved water and sanitation facilities.
The architectural design of the Tsogt-Undur Bagh Primary School was developed pro bono by Urnul Project LLC. IT Zone, Anun, Tulga Tuhuurumj LLC, and the Young Diplomats Club provided additional support by supplying high-speed internet, classroom furniture, digital learning equipment, and a fully equipped standard kitchen.
