Ministry of Foreigns Affairs UNICEF Mongolia’s New Representative Takes Office

Beate Dastel, the newly appointed Representative of UNICEF in Mongolia, today presented her Letter of Credence to H.E. L. Munkhtushig, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the credential presentation ceremony, the new Representative expressed her commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the Government of Mongolia and UNICEF to advance and protect children’s rights and to work together effectively for improved results.

Beate Dastel brings 23 years of experience in international development and strategic planning. Prior to her assignment in Mongolia, Beate Dastel served as UNICEF Representative in Djibouti and as Deputy Representative for UNICEF in Lao PDR and Bhutan.

Ms. Dastel joined UNICEF in 2010, first serving as a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist in Kosovo, and later as Chief of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation in Burundi in 2014.

Beate Dastel is an Austrian national. She holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Vienna and later graduated from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna (School of International Studies).

She is fluent in English, French and German.
