A United Story from Every Child: A Tribute to All Teachers

In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Sports, UNICEF is joining hands with the European Union and The XYZ Art Centre to take part in this year’s highly anticipated Lao Art Week, an exhibition showcasing the work of Lao PDR’s young and upcoming artistic talents. 

To commemorate National Teacher’s Day 2023, UNICEF and the Ministry of Education and Sports gathered drawings of children from across Lao PDR, from Houaphanh to Attapeu, to create an artwork montage entitled “A United Story from Every Child”. 

As an open letter of appreciation addressed to all teachers, children were asked what they love most about their schools and teachers. Children responded with drawings of all shapes and sizes to portray the unsung heroes who are among the earliest role models in our lives. 

The artwork is also a call to action. It is a call to mobilize greater support in developing the capacity of our teachers, especially those in the most disadvantaged areas in the country. It is a call to improve learning outcomes for every child and give due recognition to the invaluable role that teachers play in shaping our children’s future. 

As UNICEF and the Government of Lao PDR celebrate its 50th anniversary of partnership this year, this special exhibition represents their joint commitment to improving the situation of all teachers in Lao PDR by providing the utmost support for teachers to be able to excel in their duties. Teachers are more than just educators, they show us how to be better people and dream big. 

You can see “A United Story from Every Child” at The Lao Art Week exhibition, which is being held at Parkson Laos Shopping Mall. The exhibition will be on display on the first floor from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM every day, from 12 – 25 October 2023. There will also be an official launch event for “A United Story from Every Child” on 21 October 2023 at the exhibition venue.
