Kyrgyzstan and India national teams devote the football match to children

BISHKEK, 27 March, 2018 – A final qualifying match for the Asian Football Championship 2019 between the national teams of Kyrgyzstan and India takes place today at the Dolon Omurzakov stadium in Bishkek. Following the tradition, children will escort footballers during the opening of the official match. “Children of Kyrgyzstan: Together for Victory!” is the slogan of today’s match.

This initiative is part of the partnership between the Football Federation of Kyrgyzstan (FFKR) and the Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) aimed to attract public attention to the issues of children and importance of sport and football for children’s development.

“UNICEF has a long history of cooperation with football clubs such as Manchester United, Barcelona, ​​Olympiakos. In Kyrgyzstan, we have been cooperating with the Football Federation for two years in the interests of children, using the unique power of sports,” said Yukie Mokuo, UNICEF Representative in Kyrgyzstan

In 2016, UNICEF and FFKR launched a new initiative to promote the rights of children. Every match of the national team of Kyrgyzstan with Philippines, Lebanon, Turkmenistan, Macau was dedicated to such issues as inclusion of children with disabilities and promotion of their rights, importance of family care for every child, protection of girls’ rights, health of children and healthy life style. In addition, hundreds of children in the cross-border communities Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as in Karakol, Batken, Osh and Bishkek participated in numerous events organized by FFKR and UNICEF.
