Highlights

Nutrition Updates aims to provide quarterly updates on the work of Indonesia Country Office (ICO) Nutrition Section, highlighting key activities that have taken place in each quarter.

1. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 9 (January - March 2026)

Nutrition Updates – Newsletter Volume 9 is the first edition in 2026 where we highlights: 1) Milestone for collaboration with Government of Indonesia in the next Country Programme cycle 2026-2030, 2) The joint monitoring visit from the Embassy of People's Republic of China to Papua, Government, 3) Government of Indonesia and UNICEF launch landmark programme to accelerate maternal nutrition and reduce child wasting, 4) Strengthening the evidence base for healthier food environments and 6) Building a national network of trainers to supports Indonesia's priority programme for nutrition.

2. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 8 (October-December 2025)

Nutrition Updates – Newsletter Volume 8 presents key highlights from UNICEF Indonesia’s Nutrition Section for the fourth quarter of 2025, featuring significant progress and achievements at national and sub-national levels, including: 1) Launch of national nutrition education modules to strengthen the Free Nutritious Meal Programme in schools, 2) Nutrition Review Dissemination, 3) Development of the Provincial Food and Nutrition Action Plan in NTT, 4) Supporting emergency response in Sumatra.

3. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 7 (July-September 2025)

Nutrition Updates – Newsletter Volume 7 highlights key achievements from UNICEF Indonesia’s Nutrition Section in the third quarter of 2025. This edition showcases progress and results across national and sub-national levels, including: 1) Launch of the UNICEF Child Nutrition Report 2025 – Feeding Profit: How food environments are failing children, 2) World Breastfeeding Week 2025 commemoration, 3) Policy advocacy for a healthier food environment in Indonesia, 4) A comprehensive nutrition budget analysis, 5) National launch and training for Free Nutritious Meals food handlers and school programme implementers, 6) Sub-national activities in East Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, and Central and East Java.

4. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 6 (April-June 2025)

Nutrition Updates – Newsletter Volume 6 presents key highlights from UNICEF Indonesia’s Nutrition Section in the second quarter of 2025. This edition captures important efforts to strengthen nutrition systems, inform policy, and drive results on the ground, including: 1) Indonesia Nutritional Status Survey (SSGI) 2024, 2) Creating healthier school food environments, 3) Strengthening nutrition education for frontline health workers across ASEAN, 4) Advancing maternal nutrition, stunting and obesity prevention in Aceh, NTT, and Sulawesi.

5. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 5 (January-March 2025)

The fifth edition of Nutrition Updates highlights key developments and achievements of the UNICEF Indonesia Nutrition Section during the first quarter of 2025. This issue features initiatives aimed at strengthening child and maternal nutrition nationwide, including: 1) The launch of the Centre of Excellence for the Free Nutritious Meals Programme, 2) Strengthening the partnership with the National Nutrition Agency, 3) Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) orientation workshops, 4) Advancing standard therapeutic food products for the treatment of children with severe malnutrition, 5) World Obesity Day 2025 commemoration, 6) Knowledge generation for evidence-based programming.

6. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 4 (October-December 2024)
Nutrition Updates – Newsletter Volume 4, January 2025, showcases the significant milestones and progress achieved by the UNICEF Indonesia Country Office Nutrition Section in the final quarter of 2024, including: 1) Addressing the Impact of Climate Change on Nutrition in Indonesia, 2) Improving Complementary Feeding Practices for Indonesian Children, 3) Leveraging universities as Centres of Excellence for Early Detection and Management of Child Wasting, 4) Strengthening maternal nutrition through mother support groups.

7. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 3 (July-September 2024)

Nutrition Updates – Newsletter Volume 3, October 2024, presents the latest developments and achievements of the UNICEF Indonesia Country Office Nutrition Section from July to September, showcasing activities, key program milestones, and insights gained during this period, including: 1) World Breastfeeding Week 2024 commemoration, 2) Establishing nutritional therapy standards for severely wasted children in Indonesia, 3) Community mobilisation for obesity prevention in East Java and NTT, 4) Launch of a new guideline empowering madrasahs to promote adolescent nutrition, 5) Joint monitoring visits and workshops on maternal nutrition in East Java, 6) Knowledge generation to support evidence-based nutrition policies and programmes.

8. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 2 (April-June 2024)

Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 2, July 2024, covers key program highlights, challenges and lessons learned during the second quarter of 2024 (April-June), including: 1) The handover of the Stunting Evaluation Report to BAPPENAS, 2) The dissemination of regional work (Consortium for Improving Complementary Foods in Southeast Asia: COMMIT)  on Improving Infant and Young Child Feeding, 3) The development of ASEAN minimum standards on Nutrition Education, 4) The findings of the healthy breakfast pilot in Papua, 5) The overweight prevention programme in Central Java. 

9. Nutrition Updates - Newsletter Volume 1 (January-March 2024)

Nutrition Updates – Newsletter Volume 1, April 2024, provides the first quarter updates on the work of UNICEF Indonesia Country Office Nutrition Section, highlighting key activities that have taken place from January to March 2024 : 1) Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) landscape analysis and Minister decree, 2) kader Posyandu peduli wasting workshop in Lombok Barat NTB, 3) adolescent engagement for National Nutrition Day, and 4) commemorating World Obesity Day 2024.
