Yet in Indonesia, road traffic injuries remain one of the leading and preventable causes of death among children and adolescents, accounting for 20% of all traffic-related fatalities. Investing in safer mobility for adolescents is a high-yield policy move with measurable gains for public health, economic efficiency, and human capital development

This policy brief outlines evidence-based, cost-effective measures that align with Indonesia’s existing commitments under the National Road Safety Plan and the Sustainable Development Goals. It calls for enforcing existing laws, improving child-sensitive infrastructure, embedding road safety education in schools, and institutionalizing cross-sectoral coordination.
