Breastfeeding is key to the overall development of children. Create supportive spaces and crèches at workplaces to allow mothers to breastfeed.

Let's create a nurturing workplace for all mothers, including informal and temporary workers.

From the first hour of a baby's life through age two or later, breastfeeding protects against illness and death. Breastfeeding also reduces the burden of childhood and maternal illness, lowering healthcare costs and creating healthier families.

Ensure Adequate Paid Leave for Working Parents and Caregivers
UNICEF Ensure Adequate Paid Leave for Working Parents and Caregivers

Provide sufficient paid leave to all working parents and caregivers to meet the needs of their young children. This includes paid maternity leave preferably for a period of six months or more after birth.

Breastfeeding benefits all: Family-friendly workplace policies create an environment that benefits not only working women and their families but also employers.

Support breastfeeding mothers at work by providing regular breastfeeding breaks and establishing a private space for breastfeeding and expressing milk.

Benefits of Breastfeeding

Providing room or space to breastfeed allows women to combine work with motherhood, helps employees to return to work after maternity leave and shows that staff are recognized, respected and supported as mothers and fathers.

Let's work together to achieve the global 2030 target of 70 per cent exclusive breastfeeding.
