New Delhi, 19 January 2022

UNICEF today launched an inspiring music video featuring several iconic names from cinema, music, and sports to urge people to take precautions against Covid-19.

Given the recent upsurge in COVID-19 cases, the video is timely, as it emphasizes the importance of vaccination and adherence of COVID Appropriate Behaviours by everyone.

The four-and-a-half minute music video features UNICEF Global Goodwill Ambassadors and well-known actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, renowned music composer and singer Shankar Mahadevan, two-time Olympic badminton champion, PV Sindhu, renowned singer, Harshdeep Kaur and winner of Indian Idol season 12 - Pawandeep Rana. The lyrics, ‘Rehna Hai Tayyar aur Pura Zimmedar’ (we need to remain prepared, and fully responsible) are by noted lyricist Prasoon Joshi. The video is produced in partnership with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The video, which opens with Amitabh Bachchan urging people not let their guard down against coronavirus, aims to educate people about the need to follow Covid Appropriate measures such as wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, washing or sanitizing hands regularly. Shot at several locations across the country, the music video captures the government of India’s vaccination drive, emphasizing the importance of vaccination.

India rolled out its nationwide Covid-19 vaccination programme on January 16, 2021. Since then, the country has administered more than 150 crore doses of the vaccines, making it one of the fastest, and the largest vaccination programmes in the world.
