Sofia 2025, April 14th, The Ministry of Health, in partnership with UNICEF, has created a set of specialized books on immunizations and baby care during the first year of life. These publications serve as a guide to assist parents and will be distributed free of charge in all maternity wards across the country through regional health inspections.

The first book is "Parent's Guide to Childhood Immunizations." It provides detailed descriptions of the diseases, preventable by vaccines, the mandatory and recommended immunizations, how vaccines work, and why they are safe.

"Welcome, Baby" is the second book, which contains guidelines for comprehensive care during the first year of the child's development. It describes the skills expected at certain stage and offers advice on stimulating the baby's growth and development.

The package also includes a calendar for parents to mark the immunizations and a diary to record baby's achievements.

On the back of the books, there are QR codes linking to the MoH's specialized platform for immunizations in Bulgaria, "Plus Men," and the newly created Viber channel for the site, as well as to UNICEF's free mobile app for parents, "Bebbo".

The books will also be published online on the "Plus Men" and UNICEF websites in order to support families with newborns.
