Promotion of new financing instruments in the region focusing on vulnerable populations

To eradicate poverty, improve the quality of life and preserve our planet, the UN member states agreed on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the work on which will last until 2030.
To achieve them we need to promote new financing tools for sustainable development with a focus on vulnerable populations. The programme implemented by UNDP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UN Women and the Resident Coordinator Office in Belarus will help find new approaches to solving this challenge in Belarus.
UNICEF's work in Belarus under this programme focuses on researching public child-focused expenditure, conducting a quarterly survey of the needs of families with children and advancing the methodology for measuring multidimensional child poverty.
We have accomplished within the Joint SDG Fund project in 2021:
- We collected qualitative data on multidimensional poverty and targeted social assistance
- Conducted a quarterly survey of needs of families with children
- Launched a thematic webpage dedicated to child budgeting and an interactive dashboard at https://unicef.by/en/childbudgeting/
- First stage of the Research Study on child-focused public expenditure measurement on National and local levels. The Study will be completed in 2022.
UNICEF in Belarus in cooperation with partners will continue work to improve the effectiveness of support for children and families with children, so that all children in Belarus grow up in care and prosperity.
