In 2019 the celebration of the International Children's Day was also dedicated to another important date - the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the UN General Assembly on November 20, 1989.

A big event on the occasion of June 1st has already become a wonderful tradition for UNICEF in Belarus,  the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all the partners we work with. It's a great opportunity to celebrate fruitful partnership for the benefit of every child in Belarus and to thank each other for the productive work and achieved results. UNILAND was the third annual event in a row held together.

“Care and responsibly for children is what unites us,” — the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei noted in his welcoming speech. — The best interests of children are the main focus of the state policies in Belarus. ”

“This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child,” said Rashed Mustafa Sarwar, Representative of UNICEF in Belarus. “And today's event acts as a great reminder to all adults of the need to respect children's rights to life, to education, participation, leisure, sports, as well as rights to be safe and protected from physical and psychological violence.”

Rashed Mustafa Sarwar also thanked all the friends and partners of UNICEF, pointing out that “without our partners it would be impossible to do what we are doing for every child in Belarus”.

During the whole event, little guests were playing in interactive zones: learning their rights, enjoying football, getting acquainted with safe behavior in the Internet, building paper houses, planting flowers and tress and even learning how to sort garbage and become friendlier to our planet.
