UNICEF was established in the aftermath of World War II to help children whose lives and futures were at risk – no matter what country they were from. The only thing that mattered to UNICEF was reaching children in need.
The same holds true today. We work day-in and day-out, in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the children and young people who are most at risk and most in need. We work to save their lives. To protect their rights. To keep them safe from harm. To give them a childhood in which they’re protected, healthy and educated. To give them a fair chance to fulfil their potential.
We are UNICEF. We stand for every child, everywhere. And we never give up.
Why does UNICEF fundraise?
UNICEF is funded entirely through voluntary contributions from governments, intergovernmental organizations, the private sector, foundations and individuals. Thanks donors, UNICEF makes a difference for children in need. We are active in over 190 countries and territories, and have helped save more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization. We couldn't continue our efforts without the support and generosity of donors, and we hope you will consider joining the UNICEF family.
Why does UNICEF fundraise in Bangladesh?
With a strong economy, Bangladesh reached lower-middle-income country status in 2015, and aims to become an upper-middle-income country by 2031. This economic progress means that Bangladesh receives less foreign aid. At the same time, a growing middle class is more and more able to donate to help the most vulnerable children in their own country.
Why should I donate my Sadaqah to UNICEF?
UNICEF has been on the ground and delivering for children in Bangladesh for over 70 years. By entrusting UNICEF with your Sadaqah, you help to bring hope and relief to the most vulnerable children in Bangladesh.
Will my donation be used to help children in Bangladesh only?
Yes. All money that is raised in Bangladesh stays in Bangladesh and supports UNICEF’s work for children in Bangladesh.
How do I know that my money will not end up in the wrong hands?
UNICEF undergoes regular and extensive internal and external audits to ensure the proper use of funds. Transparent annual reporting is publicly available. UNICEF staff conducts regular field visits and monitor the progress of all UNICEF programmes.
