Ministry of Environment and UNICEF to launch a Climate Change Youth Advisory Board

UNICEF office in Armenia is accepting applications for the Climate Change Youth Advisory Board adjacent to the Ministry of Environment and UNICEF.

The board will serve as a platform for passionate young individuals to contribute their skills and insights to shaping policies, advocating for change, promoting sustainable practices and collaboratively developing strategies to address climate change.

The Climate Change Youth Advisory Board aims to empower adolescents and young people to actively engage in climate action initiatives in Armenia and equip its members with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively contribute to addressing climate challenges.

UNICEF Armenia, together with its partners, will provide the members of the board with necessary knowledge, skills, and allyships necessary for them to influence climate policies, especially in the context of the Intergovernmental declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action, which Armenia signed in January 2023.

The board will also support UNICEF and the Ministry in mapping and analyzing existing policies and formulating recommendations to render them, the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and other important documents more child-centric and youth-oriented.

Applications are open to interested young individuals aged between 16-24.

The Climate Change Youth Advisory Board will comprise of maximum 18 members, reflecting diverse backgrounds, regions, and perspectives who will serve at a minimum of one year to a maximum of three years. The board will convene at least on six occasions during the year and will additionally hold online activities.

A review panel, consisting of diverse representatives, will evaluate all submitted applications against the predetermined criteria. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews where they will have the opportunity to elaborate on their qualifications, experiences, and motivation. Following the interview stage, the review panel will select the final members of the advisory board, ensuring a fair and comprehensive selection process. All applicants will be notified about the outcome of the selection process.
