YEREVAN, 18 December 2019: UNICEF signed a partnership agreement today with ACBA-CREDIT Agricole Bank and Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, which will enable the establishment of the first-ever inclusive playground in the city of Vardenis, Gegharkunik region next year. The project will be funded through donations from the card-holders of Visa Barerar, established by the Bank and Hayastan Fund.
“Play is a children’s right. During early childhood, play is crucial for brain development, but also important for developing children’s social skills, motoric abilities, imagination, and for emotional development as well. However, many children with disabilities miss out on this important opportunity to be part of their community life and to communicate with their peers, due to lack of accessible play areas in their communities. Through this project we aim to show that, regardless of their abilities, children must live, play and learn together. Nearly 3000 children live in Vardenis, and I am happy that next year every child in Vardenis will be able to realize their right to play,” noted UNICEF Representative in Armenia Tanja Radocaj.
“Weeks ago we reaffirmed our partnership with the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund to redirect donations through Visa Barerar to projects benefiting children and other members of society. We now establish a partnership with UNICEF, as a result of which nearly 55,000 Visa Barerar card holders will have the opportunity to support the establishment of an inclusive playground in Vardenis. I am confident that together we will be able to achieve more in the future,” noted Chief Executive Officer of ACBA-CREDIT Agricole bank Hakob Andreasyan.
“Hayastan All-Armenian Fund is happy to continue our collaboration with long-time partners ACBA-CREDIT Agricole Bank and UNICEF country office in Armenia. Every child deserves a carefree childhood with equal opportunities, and with this playground we hope to meet the needs children with disabilities. I’d like to thank our partners and all those individuals who have made this worthy project possible with their donations,” said Executive Director of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund Haykak Arshamyan.
