Silvia Mestroni is the UNICEF Representative ad interim in Armenia since February 2026. She has also been serving as UNICEF Deputy Representative and head of programmes in Armenia since April 2021.

Ms. Mestroni joined UNICEF in July 2005 in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, and worked in the areas of social policy and child and youth participation. Besides Latin America and the Caribbean region, Ms. Mestroni has also served with UNICEF in Europe and Central Asia as Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, responsible for the portfolios of planning, monitoring, evaluation, and research. Later, she also supported the humanitarian response targeting 1.6 million Syrian refugee children and families and led the planning, monitoring, research and evaluation portfolio as Chief of Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.

Ms. Mestroni is a national of Italy. She holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from the University of Trieste, Italy, and a Master’s degree in International Development Cooperation from the Basque Country University, Bilbao, Spain. She is fluent in English, Spanish, and Italian and has basic knowledge of Russian.
