Highlights

The Endline Evaluation of the Zambia Scaling Up Nutrition/ First 1,000 Most Critical Days Programme (SUN/MCDP II) was commissioned by UNICEF and a consortium of partners. The programme was implemented by the Government of Zambia through the National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC). It sought to address Zambia’s persistent burden of chronic malnutrition, which was 28.9% at baseline (2019) amongst programme districts and 35%1 among children under five years of age nationally. The objectives included reducing stunting by 7% over the programme period. The strategy combined two integrated pillars: nutrition-specific interventions and nutrition-sensitive actions.
