Protecting children before the next crisis
UNICEF Zambia’s latest Climate & Emergency Newsletter shows how partnerships are helping protect children today while building stronger systems for tomorrow
Highlights
UNICEF Zambia’s latest Climate & Emergency Newsletter shows how partnerships are helping protect children today while building stronger systems for tomorrow --- Climate shocks and public health emergencies are increasingly shaping the lives of children across Zambia. Responding when a crisis hit remains critical, but protecting children also means acting early: preparing communities and strengthening the systems they rely on before emergencies strike.Since October 2025, with the support of donors and partners, UNICEF and the Government of Zambia have responded to urgent needs while investing in longer-term resilience, from tackling malnutrition and restoring access to safe water, to strengthening health facilities and community-based services. At the same time, work is underway to strengthen national preparedness, anticipatory action and climate-resilient services, helping Zambia move from repeated emergency response towards systems that can better anticipate, withstand and recover from future shocks.Explore our latest Climate & Emergency Newsletter to learn more on what we have achieved with our partners and how we are working together to protect children before, during and after emergencies.
