Youth-led Action for Climate Change
Young changemakers are working towards creating a liveable planet for us all
The crisis of climate change, environmental pollution and biodiversity loss has created incalculable losses across the world – but none greater than to its adolescents and young people.
There is no bigger issue for this generation. The climate crisis is a child rights' crisis.
With the launch of The Green Rising and in line with UNICEF's Sustainability and Climate Change Action Plan 2023-2030, UNICEF and partners have put an ambitious plan in motion: to mobilize millions of adolescents and young people to take concrete climate actions in their communities and countries by 2025.
Addressing the climate crisis is a top priority for many young people and for UNICEF. Young people should be in a position to hold governments accountable to respond to this crisis and follow through on the commitments they have made.
Despite remarkable progress, young people still struggle to impact and influence policies that are designed by adults but will affect their lives for years to come. UNICEF’s natural role in this domain is to work with emergent youth climate changemakers, build their capacities, and broker with governments to help them influence climate change policies.
