Caracas, November 20, 2025.- More than 150 boys and girls from the groups Niños Cantores de Venezuela and Ensamble Afrovenezolano Preinfantil del Núcleo Chacao, both belonging to El Sistema, national ambassador of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Venezuela, offered their talent to commemorate World Children's Day, a date that recalls the approval, in 1989, by the United Nations Assembly, of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
With the concert "Our Music, Our Voice", held at the Fedora Alemán Hall in Quebrada Honda, National Center for Social Action through Music, the young performers joined this global celebration, which this year promoted the slogan "My Day, My Rights" to promote the participation of children, in their own words, in the reflection on how they experience the rights established in the Convention in their daily lives.
Manuel Rodríguez Pumarol, UNICEF representative in Venezuela, recalled that the country was one of the first to ratify this international treaty, in 1990, "taking a crucial step towards the construction of a legal framework that protects and promotes children as full subjects of rights. This act was, and continues to be, a testament to the country's commitment to its childhood."
In calling for children and adolescents to be placed at the center of priorities, Rodríguez Pumarol highlighted the significance of the participation of children and adolescents through music, art and words. "We want to give voice to the true protagonists of this day: the children and adolescents of Venezuela. Her voice, her rhythm, her creativity, her unique way of expressing herself, are also a way to defend her rights and to remind us why we work every day."
On behalf of children and adolescents, María José Delgado, 16 years old, musician of El Sistema and member of Expresión Z, a youth advocacy initiative of UNICEF Venezuela, took the floor. "If we look abroad, the challenge is global. The progress we have made drives us to continue fighting for those children around the world who still face crisis, conflict and extreme vulnerability. The motto is, and should always be: my day, my rights. Our role and that of all adults is to transform that motto into a tangible reality."
The Niños Cantores de Venezuela and the Afro-Venezuelan Pre-Infant Ensemble of the Chacao Nucleus took the stage next to perform a repertoire that included pieces such as Kyrie, Sur, Duerme negrito, Ay sí sí, Afro Chacao, Fuego Candela, De todos los caminos, Qué bonita bandera, and Venezuela.
