Tanzania Verification of the Out-of-School Children Study

Global Initiative on Out-of-School Children

Highlights

In the year 2015 through 2016, the Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MOEST), in collaboration with UNICEF Tanzania, conducted a study to establish the profile of the out-of-school children in terms of who they are, where they are, and what they are doing. The study also established the factors and practices that keep children out of schools.

The purpose of the verification study was to establish whether the findings reported in the out-of-school study of 2016, which used the 2012 census data, revealed the reality, as compared to the actual field data as observed in schools and in the community.
