Highlights
- With schools gradually re-opening, nearly 7.1 million children are attending formal schools, while an additional 1.8 million are enrolled in alternative or non-formal education.
- In September, 1.1 million people gained access to safe drinking water, bringing the cumulative total to 11.8 million, exceeding the 2025 target of 11 million and marking a 67 per cent increase compared to August.
- Malaria control activities progressed despite severe constraints, with approximately three million insecticide-treated nets distributed across Central, East, South, and West Darfur.
- Between January and September, 448,300 children were admitted for treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM), including 56,700 in September alone. Of these, 121,000 children were treated in critical localities.
- Over half of UNICEF’s humanitarian funding requirement remains unmet (53 per cent), threatening access to life-saving nutrition, health, protection, and education services as well as clean water.
