About

The report reflects the opinions and recommendations of specialists interviewed in Bucharest regarding the emotional and psychological well-being needs of adolescents.

The specialists believe that adolescent mental health is insufficiently addressed in Romania, although interest has grown recently. The main causes identified are family problems, academic pressure, difficult relationships with teachers, and bullying. The digital environment and substance use are additional risk factors. The most common mental health problems include anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and behavioral disorders. Access to services is limited by cost, geographic distribution, and lack of promotion. Experts recommend awareness-raising measures, education, accessible services, prevention, and inter-institutional collaboration.
