About
Over the past decade, Romania has made notable progress in promoting children's rights, as recognized by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. Legislative reforms, improved coordination between institutions, and targeted policies have contributed to creating a more robust framework for the protection and development of children. However, a significant number of children continue to face serious challenges. Many remain vulnerable to violence, discrimination, and neglect, while others face poverty, social exclusion, and limited access to quality education and health services.
One-third of children in Romania are still at risk of poverty or social exclusion. This statistic highlights the urgent need for sustained and inclusive efforts to ensure that no child is left behind. Vulnerable groups, including children with disabilities, those living in rural or marginalized communities, and those without family support, require special attention and tailored interventions.
