Every child has a right to grow, play, learn and thrive free from discrimination.
Yet biases and stereotypes - whether based on ethnicity, gender, disability or social background - continue to limit children’s rights, participation and wellbeing.
Discrimination harms children. Inclusion helps them thrive.
⚽Football, with its culture of teamwork and fair play, offers a powerful platform to model inclusion, unite communities, and inspire change. By empowering players, coaches, parents, and children, we can build environments where every child feels welcome, respected, and safe.
There is space for everyone in our team!
About the Campaign
One Team for Every Child – Zero Discrimination is a joint initiative led by UNICEF North Macedonia, Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) and the Commission for Prevention and Protection against Discrimination.
Building on the earlier One Team campaign, this national initiative was launched on World Children’s Day 2025 with a joint event supported by the Ministry of Education and Science.
The campaign brings together children, football players, coaches, parents and teachers to raise awareness about discrimination, bias and stereotypes - with a focus on girls, Roma children and children with disabilities - and to strengthen recognition, response and reporting through the Commission’s official mechanisms.
What needs to happen
To ensure that every child can grow, play, learn and thrive free from discrimination, football clubs, schools, families, communities and institutions all have a role to play.
Together, we can create environments where every child feels respected, included and safe:
1. Challenge biases and stereotypes wherever they appear
Actively address discriminatory attitudes, especially those affecting girls, Roma children and children with disabilities, and create environments where children feel safe to speak up.
2. Build spaces where every child truly belongs
Promote values of fair play, respect and teamwork, ensuring that every child, regardless of background or ability, feels welcome on the pitch and in the community.
3. Strengthen recognition and reporting of discrimination
Ensure that children, parents, coaches and teachers know how to identify discrimination, where to report it, and how official protection mechanisms safeguard children’s rights.
What Does “One Team” Mean to You?
We asked young boys and girls from football clubs across the country what One Team means to them.
Equal opportunities. Playing fair. Welcoming everyone.
Their voices remind us that inclusion is not complicated. Children already understand what it means to belong.
Watch the reels to hear it in their own words.
The One Team Pledge
The One Team Pledge was co‑created with boys and girls from FFM Academy and youth football clubs during the campaign launch, bringing children directly into the heart of the initiative. Through a hands‑on workshop, young athletes helped shape the values they believe should guide every pitch: respect, fairness, courage to speak up, and support for every teammate.
Invite your club, team, school or community group to take the pledge, stand with children and commit to creating safer, more inclusive spaces in sport!
School and Football Clubs Activation
As part of the campaign, a dedicated activation package was shared with schools and football clubs across the country to help teachers and coaches open meaningful conversations about fairness, inclusion and discrimination in sport and everyday school life.
The package includes:
- a presentation (in Macedonian and Albanian),
- a short video with guidelines, and
- practical tools and discussion prompts for teachers.
These materials help schools engage students in recognizing discrimination, promoting fair play, and supporting every child to feel safe and welcome.
Schools and clubs interested in joining the activation can download the materials and use them in their classroom or sports activities.
