Child focused disaster risk reduction and winter preparedness planning

UNICEF jointly by the National Emergency Management Authority and National Authority for Family, Child and Youth Development conducted training on "Child focused disaster risk reduction and winter preparedness planning” in UNICEF geographical target areas as Gobi-Altai and Bayankhongor provinces on 15-16 December. It was organized on 7-8th November 2020 in Zavkhan.

The main purpose of the training was to build an institutional capacity of sub-national main partners on re-designing centered DRR and winter preparedness plans of each province. Therefore, the training provided information on international policy frameworks, national disaster risk reduction related policies, disaster protection plans, information on prevention of children from disasters and accidents, child protection and education in emergency, local disaster risk reduction and winter preparedness plan implementation and utilization guidance of “Attention” and What3words applications. Following the given information the participants developed proposals on how to integrate child related climate-resilient concepts into local policies by discussing the issues related to child rights, protection and prevention from all forms of abuse, violence, neglect and exploitation possibly encounter by children during disasters including COVID 19 and severe winter conditions/dzud.
