Ghenadies Borcan became father at 23 years. Beatrice is his the 1st and long waited child. Betty is 6 years old and has been diagnosed with Down syndrome.

Betty goes to the kindergarten and one of her hobbies is cooking with her family. Betty is still learning to speak, but her parents understand her with only a few syllables.

“After we got the diagnosis, the first step was to get more information”, says Ghenadie.

“Since Betty came into our lives I focus on kindness and tolerance. She taught me to be more empathic with the people around me”, he says.

Through their experience, Ghenadie and Ludmila are promoting the inclusion of children with Down syndrome.

"We never put disability first, and that makes things easier. Betty is first and foremost a child, with the appropriate needs," admits Ghenadie.

„Disability does not mean inferiority”, Ghenadie Borcan, Beatrice’s father. 

“When the father is involved in raising the child, everybody has something to gain: the child, mom and dad, the couple’s relationship”, says Ghenadie.
