Analysis of Gaps and Priorities in the Provision of Assistive Technologies
Analysis of gaps and priorities in the provision of assistive technologies for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities in the Republic of Moldova
Highlights
In the context of advancing the inclusion of children with special educational needs and/or disabilities in the community and the educational system, the need for support services for inclusive education is becoming increasingly evident, aiming to ensure equal access for all children to quality learning opportunities.
This research represents an initial step in identifying gaps and formulating needs in the field of assistive technologies for inclusive education in the Republic of Moldova. It serves as a foundation for the process of planning and acquiring assistive technologies, including from the perspective of intersectoral cooperation.
The analysis report was developed in accordance with the Framework for Capacity Strengthening in Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication for Children, and the Toolkit for Assessing Assistive Technology and Augmentative and Alternative Communication Capacity for Children in Educational Contexts, prepared by UNICEF's Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia.
The analysis of gaps and priorities in the provision of assistive technologies for children with special educational needs and/or disabilities was conducted under the project "System Empowerment and Training in Assistive Technologies for Children with Disabilities and SEN," implemented by Keystone Moldova within the framework of the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions programs, funded by the European Union and carried out by UNDP and UNICEF, and UNPRPD.
