This year’s edition began with a learning phase that brought together 78 teams, involving 312 students and teachers. Following the pre-selection stage, 45 teams qualified for the final round. The projects developed by the students addressed a wide range of topics, from applying chemistry to develop engineering solutions with real-world impact, to exploring space using modern technologies, as well as promoting the efficient use of natural resources and eco-friendly materials in the design of sustainable spaces.

Implemented by TEKEDU, in partnership with UNICEF and the Ministry of Education and Research, with financial support from the Government of the Republic of Korea, the Government of the United States of America, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, maib, and Impact Moldova, STEAM Challenge promotes critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration among young people.

Maha Damaj, UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Moldova, noted that competitions such as STEAM Challenge “encourage students not only to use technology, but also to understand it, question it critically, and apply it to find solutions to real-life challenges. I am delighted to see here future engineers, researchers, architects, innovators, and entrepreneurs working to identify solutions for energy-efficient cities, accessible leisure spaces in urban areas, and innovative business ideas. It is also symbolic that this event is taking place here, at MAIB Park – a space that continues to support and invest in young talents as they take their next steps toward the future, in partnership with UNICEF.”

“I discovered many interesting projects, ranging from ideas for improving urban spaces and smart applications to satellites and innovative solutions in chemical engineering. In a rapidly changing world, STEAM education is no longer just an option, but a necessity, as it helps students think critically, collaborate, and find solutions to real-life problems. Regardless of the final results of the competition, the experience gained by the participants is already a valuable achievement.”
