The first socio-educational series for children and teenagers will be launched in the Republic of Moldova. "Generația ALPHA" is a local production that appears in a context where violence, bullying, and discrimination remain alarming phenomena in the lives of children and teenagers.
The series was produced by CIO Film and UNICEF, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research (MER), as part of UNICEF’s Social and Behaviour Change mandate, aiming to positively influence social norms, attitudes, and behaviours among children, adolescents, and the adults around them.
“Children learn from stories, from examples, and from characters they identify with. ”Generation ALPHA” transforms these stories into lessons about respect, safety, and responsibility, offering children the space they need to learn, ask questions, and feel accepted,” said Maha Damaj, UNICEF Representative in the Republic of Moldova.
The series is produced by Sergiu Ciorescu, who also served as director of photography, while Ilinca Stîncă is responsible for directing and screenwriting. Comprising five interconnected episodes, the production focuses on sensitive yet prevalent issues in schools, families, and communities across Moldova: bullying and cyberbullying, domestic violence, and discrimination based on disability or ethnicity.
“We wanted to tell these stories without dramatization or imposed moral lessons, but with care for children and respect for their reality. Generation ALPHA is about courage, support, and the idea that change begins when children are truly heard,” said producer Sergiu Ciorescu.
At the centre of the series is Patricia, a young girl trying to integrate into a new school but facing challenges from her very first days. Her story sets the narrative thread that connects the five episodes, each highlighting a different experience and a different child - all linked within a reality that can no longer be ignored.
The main roles are played by Patricia Ciorescu, known as “Ciao, Patricia!”, alongside Samson Hatman, Vivien Rusu, Melisa Chilimicenco, and Gabriel Lițcan. Episodic roles feature well-known personalities including Tatiana Însurățelu (Titania), Ludmila Adamciuc, Andrei Captarenco, Dumitru Roman, Aliona Triboi, Ana Danilescu, and Andrei Porubin.
“Generation ALPHA” goes beyond presenting problems by offering examples of support, solutions, and healthy behaviours, while promoting empathy, respect, inclusion, and emotional education. The production addresses not only children and adolescents, but also parents, teachers, psychologists, and anyone who can intervene when a child is in difficulty. Through this series, UNICEF and MER aim to help build positive social norms and support sustainable behaviour change that protects the rights and well-being of children in the Republic of Moldova.
“Preventing violence, combating bullying, and promoting inclusive education are policy priorities assumed by the Ministry of Education and Research. Generation ALPHA complements our school-based interventions. Through this initiative, we aim to support behaviour change and contribute to the development of a safe, equitable, and child-centred educational environment,” emphasized Dan Perciun, Minister of Education and Research.
Filming has recently been completed, and the official trailer is now available below. The series will be available online free of charge, with the launch date to be announced soon. All updates will be published on the official Facebook and Instagram pages of the series.

Why is such a series needed?
According to data from the 2025 Barometer on the Situation in lower and upper secondary education, bullying — both offline and online — remains a reality for a large number of children. Spreading rumours, mocking, intentional exclusion, and verbal intimidation are among the most frequently reported forms of bullying. One in four students reports experiencing offensive comments related to their body, appearance, or identity.
Additionally, cases of sexual abuse, pressure, or inappropriate behaviour are reported by some students, highlighting the need for early, preventive, and age-appropriate interventions.
At the same time, data from the Inclusive Education Study indicate that disability remains one of the main grounds for discrimination.
In this context, ”Generation ALPHA” responds to a real need to create a safe space for dialogue, offer positive behavioural role models, and support children, parents, and teachers in preventing violence, promoting inclusion, and strengthening children’s emotional well-being.
