About

UNICEF and UNFPA conducted in 2025 a “National Study on the Intersections between Violence Against Women And Violence Against Children in Moldova”, examining how VAC and VAW intersect in Moldova, particularly within intimate partner violence (IPV) and domestic violence, to inform coordinated, multisectoral prevention and response strategies.

The findings from this study call for a paradigm shift in how Moldova addresses the co-occurrence of VAW and VAC. It urges national and local stakeholders to move beyond fragmented, parallel systems and adopt integrated, multisectoral strategies that reflect the interconnected nature of violence.

This study is realized under the UNICEF-UNFPA Joint Programme “Breaking the cycle of violence against women and children”, funded by UK AID, under the leadership of the National Agency for Preventing Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and the Ministry of Education and Research.
