What are the challenges we face?
Although Latin America and the Caribbean has made significant efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in education, there are still gaps that prevent millions of children and adolescents in the region from enjoying their right to quality education.
What do we do?
We provide advice to countries in the region on strengthening their education systems. We focus on the following:
- Developing strategies that ensure equitable and inclusive access to quality and inclusive preschool, primary and secondary education services that are relevant and resilient to environmental conditions.
- Supporting teacher training processes to strengthen and/or develop fundamental skills of the teaching-learning process.
- Promoting education policies that protect all children’s and adolescents’ educational trajectories, providing alternative opportunities to those out of school and others who find it difficult to remain in the system because of their vulnerability.
- Encourage countries to undertake educational innovation processes to expand coverage, develop inclusive education, improve learning outcomes, and encourage the acquisition of the necessary skills to succeed in life during early childhood, childhood and adolescence.
