“To educate the younger generation, together with UNICEF, we have developed and adopted the Programme for the Development of Climate Education and Awareness for 2025–2030,” said President Sadyr Japarov, addressing the plenary session of the Regional Environmental Summit (RES).

On 23 April, the delegation contributed to a UNICEF-organized high-level roundtable on Children, Youth and Climate, advancing dialogue on climate-responsive education, resilient school infrastructure, and regional cooperation across Central Asia.

The session brought together key regional stakeholders, including Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic Asel Raimkulova and Deputy Minister of Education Lira Samykbaeva.

The Regional Green School Platform (RGSP) was presented and endorsed as a key initiative to strengthen climate-resilient education systems.

“The Kyrgyz Republic fully endorses the Regional Green Schools Platform as a key mechanism to translate climate policy into concrete action—through strengthening climate-responsive education systems, facilitating regional knowledge exchange, and mobilizing investments that directly benefit children and young people. Our Ministry stands ready to serve as a co-lead in advancing this platform,” said Asel Raimkulova, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources.

“At the same time, education systems play a key role in preparing young people for the green transition and a sustainable, low-carbon future in the region. In this context, strengthening climate education and building the capacity of teachers must remain our shared priorities,” said Deputy Minister of Education Lira Samykbaeva.

Discussions also emphasized the importance of climate-resilient infrastructure. Under NDC 3.0, Kyrgyzstan plans to modernize at least 1,400 social facilities, benefiting up to 1.8 million children and young people.

UNICEF Kyrgyzstan continues to support efforts to ensure that climate action delivers tangible results—for every child.
