August 12, 2025 Amman - In the presence of the Minister of Youth, Dr. Raed Al-Adwan, the Ministry of Youth and UNICEF celebrated International Youth Day with the participation of representatives from international organizations, official and civil institutions, along with a group of young men and women from various governorates across the Kingdom. The event was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Youth, Dr. Mazen Abu Baqar, and the ministry’s directors, alongside Musonda Kasonde, UNICEF Jordan’s Deputy Representative for Operations.
As a symbolic gesture aimed to empower youth, provide them with a platform to voice their opinions, and allow them to experience leadership roles, the ministry appointed Radwan Al-Naimat as “Honorary Minister of Youth” and Basma Al-Sheikh Deeb as “Honorary Secretary-General of the Ministry” on the occasion of International Youth Day.
In his speech, Honorary Minister of Youth Radwan Al-Naimat emphasized that the occasion represents a global platform for youth to make their voices heard, showcase their achievements, and enhance their role in building a better world. He noted that Jordan is privileged to have Hashemite leadership that believes in its youth and places their potential at the forefront of national priorities. He affirmed that His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II have set an exemplary model in supporting young people, highlighting that UN Security Council Resolution 2250 was the result of the Crown Prince’s efforts to reinforce the role of youth in promoting peace and security.
Honorary Secretary-General of the Ministry, Basma Al-Sheikh Deeb, stressed that International Youth Day is an opportunity to celebrate the dynamism of Jordanian youth and their capacity to drive change. She affirmed that the Hashemite leadership believes youth are the most valuable asset and the main driver of development and progress.
She added that the Ministry has prioritized dialogue with youth, listening to their ideas and translating them into programs and projects that meet their needs and open doors to creativity and innovation. She stressed that youth are partners in shaping the present and building the future.
In a speech delivered on behalf of Jordanian youth, Mohammad Fayyad affirmed that the occasion is a message to the world that the voices of youth must be heard and their energy must be harnessed. He highlighted the achievements of Jordanian youth in innovation, entrepreneurship, volunteerism, and raising the nation’s flag in international forums- achievements that, he noted, demonstrate their ability to compete globally when provided with a supportive environment. He urged young people to shape the future with their own hands rather than wait for others to shape it for them, emphasizing that they are the beating heart of the nation, the leaders of the present, and the architects of the future.
At the conclusion of the celebration, participants in the dialogue sessions -whose topics ranged from scouts and guides, community initiatives and youth participation, youth engagement in political life, o the role of youth in building the future; from idea to impact: youth leadership and entrepreneurship, environmental issues and climate change, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, youth peace and security, from idea to implementation: towards a safe and stable Jordan, and a healthy Jordan- put forward a set of recommendations.
The mentioned committees submitted the recommendations to the relevant bodies for review and consideration, as a step towards incorporating them into future national plans and programs.
