39 trainers complete training in digital skills and artificial intelligence

AMMAN — The Vocational Training Corporation (VTC), in partnership with UNICEF and DOT Jordan, has completed specialised training for 39 trainers under the “Digital Skills for a Better Future” programme. The training aims to strengthen the integration of digital skills and artificial intelligence (AI) applications into vocational training.

The programme is supported by the Government of the Netherlands through the PROSPECTS partnership. It is part of joint efforts to equip young people with skills that help them keep pace with technological change and access opportunities in the digital economy.

From 6 to 17 September 2026, participants received training in foundational digital skills, freelancing, digital microtasks and the use of AI tools. They also became familiar with the programme’s training materials and developed their skills in managing and facilitating training sessions.

Training the trainers is a step towards expanding the programme and sustaining its impact. The trainers will share these skills with young people attending VTC institutes, helping them prepare for changing labour market needs.

VTC Director General Raafat Mousa Sawafeen said that developing trainers’ capabilities is essential to improving the quality of vocational training. He said VTC is strengthening digital skills and AI within its training programmes by equipping trainers with up-to-date knowledge and tools. Investing in trainers, he added, is an investment in future generations of trainees.

The training coincides with VTC’s 50th anniversary, as the corporation continues to update its programmes in response to technological change and labour market needs.

“The value of this training extends beyond the 39 trainers themselves: it enables them to share their knowledge with more young people across VTC institutes,” said Marc Rubin, UNICEF Representative to Jordan. “Through our partnership with VTC and DOT Jordan, and with support from the Government of the Netherlands through PROSPECTS, we are helping young people develop the digital and practical skills they need to move from learning towards employment opportunities.”

DOT Jordan Executive Director Hamza Shraideh said that developing trainers’ capabilities is key to sustaining the impact of digital skills programmes and reaching more young people. He highlighted the importance of skills that help young people keep pace with technological developments and benefit from opportunities in the digital economy.

The collaboration reflects the commitment of VTC, UNICEF and DOT Jordan to strengthening vocational training, building trainers’ capabilities and expanding young people’s access to skills relevant to the changing world of work.
